“What you think is what you become!”

Cat In DryerAs part of the second half of “Becoming a CBT Ninja: Understanding Cognitive Distortions,” we focus our conversation on application.  Specifically, we use the Triple Column Technique by Dr. David Burns, to illustrate the complicated nature of our negative thoughts, how to properly classify, and finally replace, the beliefs getting in the way of our transformative experience.

As 2017 is quickly approaching, I take time to review the major events of 2016, and acknowledge that it has been a challenging year.  We then discuss the power of the media in shaping our negative world view, and the importance of eliminating a negative mental filter to reshape our understanding of reality (see list of cognitive distortions).

Finally, I discuss the difference between New Years resolutions and the creation of a master plan, both viable ways to create change, but not equal in implantation or nature.
