“Meet In Gastown: My favorite hipster ethereal hippy diner!”
Comfort Food Mecca
In the mood for comfort food? Still under the assumption that living vegan means comfort went out the window with kale? Think again! Today we went to “Meet” the hippest Vancouver area vegan restaurant in town. Think combination, “diner, meets hipster, meets ethereal hippy,” and you now know the vibe at this amazing restaurant experience!
What We Love
Meet provides an amazing array of sensual experiences for customers, creating a perfect marriage of hometown cozy comfort and amazing food. Been dreaming about that double burger with “cheez?” and home style fries, well, this is the place! We have eaten at Meet four times now, and it never disappoints.
Meet is frequently full, but never feels busy. Wait staff are personable and informative, promoting that chill/casual but professional vibe. Meet even has a separated bar area if you want to just pop in for a sip (…not to mention, the drinks are amazing…).
What They Serve
Meet does vegan comfort food like nobody else. They have several styles of burgers, one that is spice and dripping with “cheezy” delicious goodness (the Angry Burger), another with a home smoked patty topped with macaroni and cheez (the Mac’N’Cheez Burger). Want something on the lighter side? Meet has an assortment of bowls for the health conscious connoisseur. The menu also caters to folks with gluten sensitivity. All menu items are clearly marked as having gluten and/or nuts.
I try something different with every visit at Meet. This time, I had the Mountain Burger (picture below). ummmm…Delish! The food never disappoints. Some of the sauces do error on being extra salty, but that is no big deal as the food here is all about the comfort, and I love salt! My husband is a gluten-free vegan. The staff is always accommodating, not to mention that some of the gluten-free dishes he has ordered, taste even better than the regular versions.
How to Get There and Hours
Meet has two centralized locations in Vancouver, one in Gastown, and the other on Main St. Meet in Gastown is their newest venture, expanding from the well established restaurant on Main. Both are in busy hubs of the city, both are easy to get to by car or public transit. We prefer public transit as we then have permission to imbibe a bit.
Meet has accommodating hours at both their locations, open seven days a week starting at 11am to 11pm. The Gastown location is open extended hours to 1am on Friday and Saturday, and 12am for the Main st. location. They both have happy hour each day from 3-5pm & 10pm to closing each night.
Regardless if you eat a plant-based diet or not, you will find much pleasure in your experience at Meet. I have never been disappointed. Not every restaurant is sensitive to gluten-free and nut allergy needs. If this is your concern, Meet will defiantly provide you with an amazing experience. Check out Meet, and let us know what you think! 🙂
