“Hoka One One! No better show for the bigger runner!”
The Big Guy’s Shoe!
With all the maximalist shoe craze in the media over this past year, I decided to cave to the hype and try a pair of the Bondi 4 by Hoka One One. To be honest, I was a skeptic. Many have praised the shoe for preventing injury while engaged in marathon training.
I have to say, that I was more than pleasantly surprised! This is the, “big guy’s” running show. The first time you put on a pair of these shoes, you feel literally two inches higher. That was a cause for concern in the beginning – Would I have problems on uneven terrain with ankle role? That would be devastating!
After successfully completing the BMO Vancouver Half Marathon this past May, I have committed to, and am gearing up for, the full marathon event next year. The maximalist concept just might be the trick, especially as I build my long distance running base.
